I'm Women Hear Me Roar!

Picture
"Starmer and Sturgeon are blind to the real world consequences of policies and language that put women and girls at risk."
Oh dear. Perhaps we in Hong Kong aren't sophisticated enough to appreciate the advances many Western nations are making. Stuck in our traditional ways, we can only admire and marvel.

For example, for some time in Britain, a penis, as an appendage, is allowed for a female prisoner. But don't worry, to achieve this doesn't involve a Frankenstein-type procedure, with mad doctors sewing bits onto women.

In an enlightened approach, all that needs to happen is that the prisoner declares as a woman. And then, by the magic of self-declaration, a bloke becomes a lady, overturning millions of years of evolution and setting aside any discussion of XY chromosomes or other stuff like science. Isn't that marvelous? And what could go wrong?

Hence it's no aberration that in Scotland, Isla Bryson, aka Adam Graham, convicted of double rape, entered a female prison last week. But, of course, according to The Guardian and many other media outlets, Isla is a she. But, according to common sense, science, and the picture above, Isla is a he. For unless my eyes deceive me, Isla still has the complete set of family jewels.

As his day in court approached, Isla (aka Adam) suddenly found a desire to be a woman. This caused some surprise to his estranged wife as he'd exhibited no such traits during their marriage. "When I saw the photos of him at court dressed as a woman with a blonde wig and pink lycra leggings, I fell out of bed laughing. His gender transition is a sham."

"I can see why he doesn't want to be in prison with loads of big scary men, so he's come up with this ploy to get himself a much easier sentence."

In my time, I've seen villains suddenly embrace religion when going before the judge, usually with some naive priest in tow to vouch for them. Yet opting for a gender switch is something new to me.

Isla and his penis wanted to serve their time in the Scottish Cornton Vale women's prison. This place houses some of Scotland's most vulnerable girls and women. But, a huge public outcry saw Bryson move to the male wing of HMP Edinburgh.

This transfer is strange because the mantra of "trans women are women" is the gospel in Britain. Or so we are led to believe.

On a serious note, the timing of this case is most fortunate. In recent months, Scotland's first minister Nicola Sturgeon steamrolled through the Gender Recognition Reform Bill. Amongst other things, the bill allows the self-identification of gender without the need for verification. Consequently, anyone who declares themselves a woman can use women's facilities. In the process, Sturgeon dismissed the concerns of women and feminist campaigners as "not valid."

Those words now haunt Sturgeon, who struggled to explain her policies in a series of media interviews.

Anyway, Isla's actions are neither new nor unique. In 2018, Karen White received life in prison for raping two women and sexual assaults. Karen committed these crimes inside an English women's prison with his penis.

At trial, the prosecutors noted, "The defendant would stand very close to the victim, touch her arm and wink at her. Her penis was erect and sticking out of the top of her trousers." Note the language "… her penis was erect…".

Here's the thing, White claimed to be transgender; thus, under the Home Office rules, he entered a female prison. Prosecutors, with no sense of irony, said there was evidence to suggest White's "approach to transitioning has been less than committed." Really!

Karen and Isla claimed to be transitioning, which involved wearing lip gloss, a dodgy wig, and some Lululemon gear.

Like Sturgeon, Kier Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party, appears blind to the real world consequences of policies and language that put women and girls at risk.

Starmer struggles even to define a woman. In Starmer's world, "The vast majority of women don't have a penis." Besides being comedy gold, stripping away this statement reveals a deeply disturbing twisting of reality.

Following Starmer's logic, Bryson should be in a women's prison. Hence, a convicted rapist must be housed with vulnerable women and girls to sustain Starmer's ideology. The boys at Triggernometry had great fun with this.

Sadly, this distorted thinking now permeates most British institutions. We've seen over-sensitive police forces, indoctrinated in critical race theory, shirking away from investigating rapists in minority communities for fear of the racist label. Add to this the crisis at the London Tavistock Clinic with the reckless prescription of puberty blockers to children amongst other malpractice.

Sturgeon's gender bill faced the chop from Prime Minister Sunak, who exercised his right to shut it down. From the reactions I've seen, the vast majority of Scots, with and without penises, welcome this move.

Sure, trans people are a marginalised group and deserve support and protection from abuse. But, in what way does granting convicted criminals the unchallenged right of gender self-declaration help the genuine cases? Especially as the freedoms and progress of women is undermined.

In recent years, I have written several blogs detailing how the corruption of language drives a lack of honesty. Words carry weight. Thus when you compel people to use certain words, such as pronouns, and reinforce that with the law, you trample on freedoms.  That opens the door to the clown world policies documented above.

As always, along the way, the public discourse is dominated by the strident activists who control the debate, set the agenda, and demand that everyone else complies with the orthodoxy. Anyone who objects is immediately vilified as transphobic and must be shut down. J.K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, proves that point, although she bravely  stood her ground.

Unquestionably the time has come for ordinary folks to take matters in hand. Politely and firmly decline to follow compelled speech and resist policies that put women and girls at risk.

Yes, be sympathetic and compassionate, but have in place policies that work in the real world. After all, there isn't a fig leaf big enough to obscure the fact that violent sex criminals are gaming the system.

Good article, Walter.

You say, in part, " .....the corruption of language drives a lack of honesty. Words carry weight. " I think that for a realistic, science based approach to this matter they key word is "transition". A person can be accepted as a member of the changed sex when they have successfully transitioned. This does not amount to making a statement, living in a skirt for three months or even taking hormones: to me a successful transition is to have undergone the whole process including the surgery required to become a facsimile of the required sex.

As you say, we should be sympathetic and compassionate. Indeed, I respect anyone who has undergone the very considerable mental, physical and financial stress of completing the transition and have no problem with them using or being accomodated in the facilities appropriate to their changed sex.
It is a matter for great regret that the system has become so distorted by the activists that those people who feel that they are not in the right body do not receive sympathetic, compassionate and, most importantly, professional psychological counselling and treatment before proceeding down the transition path, not least because it is an unfortunate fact that a high proportion of those who do transition do not get the mental relief from doing so that they expected.

There is, of course, much more that can be dicussed about this problem, but I think that a proper definition of "transition" makes a good start.

Good article Walter and well-reasoned. Glad that you used the correct gender pronouns and did not fall into the trap of compelled speech.
